Jespirit is a Water/Ghost-type Tanorian. It evolves from Aquazol starting at level 36. It is the final evolution of Chewaqua.
Appearance[]
Jespirit has a mainly blue canine-like build with white legs. These legs are wrapped in striped pink waving cloths and are not connected to the feet. Jespirit has a large boney hand for a tail which looks to become faded near the fingertips which is derived straight from its origin. Jespirit's very bright design resembles a jester, this is especially shown it its face markings which resemble face paintings you'd see on cultural celebrations. It has a darker blue collar which has 3 extended bits with white balls on the ends of them like a jester hat.
Origin[]
"Jespirit is based on Aztec mythology. It almost exclusively draws on depictions of the Ahuitzotl, a legendary creature from Aztec myths. It's described as a water dog with spiky fur and a large hand for a tail. The spiky fur was shown through Jespirit's collar, and the Ahuitzotl's hand tail through Jespirit's skeletal hand tail. Jespirit also takes inspiration from Xolotl, who is ironically the god of fire and lightning. He is depicted as a dog headed man, and a soul-guide for the dead. This is the part of Xolotl that was taken from. Combining this with the idea that dogs can see spirits, Jespirit was given the ability to interact with the spirit world and guide spirits to the afterlife through use of its skeletal hand. Adding on to the theme of spirits and the dead, Jespirit's markings are reminiscent of those associated with Dia De Los Muertos, which is of Aztec origins. Like the other two starters, the Chewaqua line is based on a specific Medieval Archetype. Jespirit represents the Jester. Jespirit is given the ability to create water projections, often using them to make copies of itself that it uses to lure prey and lay claim to the sea." - Garrett
Jespirit's name is a combination of the nouns "jester" and "spirit".
