At the start of the player's journey, they are given a special Tanorian by Proffesor Iroko known as Starter Tanorians at the Tanaku Research Corporation, each one being strong and weak against one another. Each Starter is part of a 3-stage evolution line, reaching their evolved formes starting at level 16 and once again to their Final Evolution at level 36. Starter Tanorians can also be obtained with either the use of Conservation Incenses or Swarms.
